About the Langtang Heritage Trail
The Langtang Heritage Trail sprang from a conversation initiated by a member of the Langtangpa community on the morning of 25th April, 2015. The idea? To document the rich oral histories that weave narratives through the mountainous Himalayas, and generate a repository of local knowledge about the landscape. And then? To work together with the community to co-design them into small exhibitions that share these stories with visitors to the valley in a way that is culturally suitable for the community.
A few hours later, the valley of Langtang was rocked by two earthquakes and a devastating landslide. A lot changed on that day, but the community remains.
And these are their stories.
